Canada Lands Surveys
Professional Canada Lands Surveys for Federal and First Nations Lands
J.D. Barnes Limited provides Canada Lands Survey (CLS) services for lands under federal jurisdiction, including First Nations reserve lands, federally regulated properties, and National Parks. Our work supports land administration, infrastructure development, and long-term land governance and is carried out in accordance with federal legislation and regulatory requirements.
Canada Lands Survey
We prepare parcel surveys for individual band members and band administrations to support the severance, conveyance, and development of reserve lands. These surveys support affordable housing initiatives and the development of community infrastructure, including medical centres, community centres, and water and wastewater treatment facilities.
We provide surveys of reserves to facilitate the transfer of lands to First Nations under the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management. These surveys support First Nations seeking to resume control over their reserve lands, natural resources, and environment through community-developed and approved land codes.
Our services also include the preparation of provincial reference plans and Crown location plans to support Additions to Reserve (ATR), including reserve creation or expansion arising from treaty land entitlement claims or other community-driven initiatives.
We prepare Water Management Area (WMA) plans to define the extent of reserve lands subject to historical flooding and flooding agreements with power authorities. These plans support settlement negotiations, economic agreements, and land use planning by identifying hazard lands and development constraints.
In addition to First Nations work, we provide Canada Lands Surveys for federally regulated properties and National Parks. These surveys support land administration and long-term land management and are completed in compliance with federal standards.
